Nora Vernell “Nell” Ball Lanier, 93, of Surratt Rd., Denton, NC passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2022, at her residence.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 am Tuesday, Oct. 11, at Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Rev. Claudie Harrison and Rev. Thomas Frizzell officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 10:00 to 11:00 am prior to the service at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton and other times at the home of Lu Ann and Randy Gallimore.
Ms. Lanier was born January 19, 1929, in Davidson County to Jacob Ellet Ball and Martha Lalah Kennedy Ball. Prior to her Marriage she had worked as a nurse at the Jamestown Sanitorium with Tuberculosis patients. She was a longtime member of the Davidson County Home Extension Club and enjoyed making and teaching basket weaving and was of the Methodist faith. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Franklin Lanier, son, Douglas Franklin Lanier; brothers, Leonard, Marvin, Melvin, and Leon Ball; sister, Virginia McLester.
She is survived by her daughter, Lu Ann Lanier Gallimore and husband Randy of Denton, granddaughter, Jessica Skeen, and husband Nathan; 4 great-grandchildren, Angel, Jacob, Caleb, and Evan Skeen; a special niece, Vickie Davis; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to recognize Vernell’s caregivers, Rebekah Skinner and Phyllis Cook.
