Dwight Lanier Miller

Dwight Lanier Miller ,79, of Forest Hill Dr., Denton passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at the home of his daughter.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, January 21 at Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Rev. Claudie Harrison officiating. Interment will follow at Tom’s Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

Dwight was born October 2, 1943, in Guilford County to Carson M. Miller and Alta Veigh Lanier Miller. He served in the United States Army Reserves and was of the Baptist faith. Dwight was a production planner with Acme-McCrary Corporation. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Sarah Dean Miller.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Peggy Marshall Miller of the home; daughters, Christy Miller and Missy Miller Ellison (Greg) all of Denton; brothers, Wayne Miller, James “Jimmy” Miller, and Carson “Mack” Miller; sisters, Lisa Miller Martin and Ronda Miller Carroll; 2 grandchildren, Brittany Miller (Zachary Hatmaker) and Carson Ellison; 1 great-granddaughter, Mia Veigh.

Mr. Miller will lie in state on Saturday from 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton. At other times the family will be at the home of Brittany Miller on Carroll Ave., in Denton.

Memorials can be made to Hospice of Davidson County, Tom’s Creek Cemetery Fund, or to the Humane Society.
