Ollie Lanier

Mrs. Ollie Walker Lanier age 87, of Gravel Hill Road, Denton, NC died Monday, April 25 at her residence. A funeral service will be held at Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at 3:00 pm conducted by Rev. Grady Blakely. Interment will follow at Gravel Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will see friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton and other times at the residence on Gravel Hill Road. Mrs. Lanier was born February 25, 1929 in Randolph County to Corn Franklin Walker and Ester Pugh Walker. Mrs. Lanier along with her late husband Jack owned and operated Lanier’s Grocery on Gravel Hill Rd. for over 56 years. The Lanier’s also organized the Lanier Ball Field next to the store. She was of the Baptist Faith and was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Lanier on May 15, 2013 and by a son, Ronald “Bear” Lanier. She is survived by her sons, Harold Lanier and wife Brenda, Arnold Lanier and wife Debra all of Denton, Donald Lanier of Asheboro; daughters, Brenda Hunt and husband Junior and Diane Cook and husband Garry all of Denton; 17 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren. Flowers will be accepted but memorials may also be made to Hospice of Randolph, PO Box 9, Asheboro, NC 27203 or to the Charity of the Donor’s Choice.
