Mrs. Juanita (Granny) Houston, age 70, of Lindora Lane, Thomasville, formerly of the Silver Valley Community, died Monday morning, March 14 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem following a short illness. Funeral service for Mrs. Houston will be 2:00 pm Saturday, March 19, 2011 at Briggs Memorial Chapel with Rev. Claude Garrett, Jr. and Mr. Joe Long officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Friday at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton and other times at the home on Lindora Lane. Mrs. Houston was born August 15, 1940 in Lee County, Virginia to Tyler Boyd and Mary Magdalene Plaster Miles. She retired from BrassCraft in Thomasville and cooked for 10 years at the Park-In Grill in Denton. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Delbert Houston, a brother, Curtis Wayne Miles, sister, Phyllis Ann Miles and grandson, Christopher Miles. She is survived by a daughter, Mary Lovelace and husband Gary of Thomasville, one sister, Linda Kay Bowen of Indiana, three grandchildren, Victoria Summey and fiancé Tony Owens, Sabrina “Puddin” Bundy and J. R. Miles and wife Nikki, six great-grandchildren, David Wayne Summey, Alex and Dylan Bundy, Austin, Mason and Ethan Miles, special son-in-law, Ricky Bundy, special grandson, Daniel Farmer, very special friends, Earl, Jimmie and Bear Powell and her very special 4-legged companion “Boss”. The family sends a special thank-you to the people at Forsyth Medical Center who took care of Granny.
