Woody Sturdivant

Mr. William Woodrow “Woody” Sturdivant, Jr., 72, of Denton, NC passed away on Thursday, September 05, 2024, at Mountain Vista Health Park in Denton.

A funeral service will be held at Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, Sep. 11, at 2:00 PM with Rev. Claudie Harrison officiating. Interment will follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton.

Woody was born on July 18, 1952, in Davidson County the son of William W. “Bill” Sturdivant, Sr. and Arlene Floyd Sturdivant. He graduated from Denton High School and Davidson County Community College. Woody spent most of his life working at Bill’s Hosiery Mill, where he was a co-owner. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Some of Woody’s interest was working in his machine shop and being able to help out his friends, watching racing, riding his motorcycle, fishing, gardening, and anything to do with tractors.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Hughes Sturdivant of the home, sisters, Libby S. Carrick and husband Max of Lexington and Judy S. Richardson of Richmond, VA, and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers memorials should be made to Hospice of Davidson County 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292 or to the donor’s choice.
