Mr. Willis Wesley Hughes age 93 of Summey Town Rd. Trinity died February 25, 2016 at Hinkle Hospice House. A funeral service will be held 3:00 pm Sunday, Feb. 28 at Jackson Creek Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Billy Joe Yates and Rev. Darren Hughes. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Hughes was born May 27, 1922 in Randolph County to Alson Hughes and Lola Pierce Hughes. He was a member of Jackson Creek Baptist Church where he had served as Sunday School Superintendent, Deacon, and loved to play his harmonica and sing at church. Willis loved John Deere Tractors and was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Pierce Hughes. Surviving are son, Wayne Hughes and wife Elaine of Thomasville; daughter Shirley Skeen of Trinity; 4 grandchildren, Wendy Miller (Dale), Darren Hughes (Margie), Jamie Skeen (Tabitha), and Dana Trantham (Casey); 5 great grandchildren, Daniel Miller, Olivia Miller, Adrienne Miller, Devin Skeen, Sophia Hughes. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton and other times at the home of Shirley Skeen on Summey Town Rd. Flowers will be accepted but memorials can be made to Hospice of Davidson County 200 Hospice Way Lexington, NC 27292. Online condolences may be made at www.briggsfuneralhome.com
