Mr. William Francis Shay, Jr. age 72 off Mountain Shore Drive, Denton, NC died Sunday, April 30 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Funeral Mass will be held 12:00 pm Thursday, May 4, 2017 at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church in Lexington with Father Akinwande Ambrose officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow at the National Cemetery in Salisbury. William was born February 5, 1945 in New York City, NY to William F. Shay, Sr. and Stephanie Kusmitski Shay. He was a Vietnam Veteran having served in the United States Army. He was a retired switchman for New York Telephone Company and also was a volunteer fireman in New York. William was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary. His interest included working on cars, gardening, traveling, music, and being a computer geek. He was preceded in death by sisters, Eleanor, Susan, Patricia, and Frances. Surviving are wife, Angela “Angie” Reynolds Shay of the home; sons, William R. Shay and wife Keri of Dracut, MA., Kevin J. Shay of Winston-Salem, and Andrew J. Shay and wife Ginger of Brooklyn, MI; daughters, Denise Ann Vuono and husband Lou of Pipersville, PA., and Debra Marie Mead of Doylestown, PA.; sisters, Jane McSweeney of New York City and Phyllis Clement of New York; 8 grandchildren, Aydan, Jennifer, Courtney, Julie, Andrew, Elizabeth, Gregory, and Ethan.
