Mr. William Marvin Hill, 89, of NC HWY 8, Denton, NC passed away on Sunday, September 01, 2019 at his residence.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Wednesday, Sept. 4 at Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Rev. Charles Moses and Rev. Claudie Harrison officiating. Michelle Yates and Jerry Harrison will share their musical talents. Interment will follow at Taylor’s Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from12:00 to 1:30 pm prior to the funeral service at Briggs Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
Mr. Hill was born October 28, 1929 in Rowan County to Marvin D. Hill and Effie Bost Hill. He was a graduate of Owosso Bible College in Owosso, Michigan and was a veteran of the United States Army having served in the Korean Conflict. William was the owner of Jackson Hill Motors. He taught Sunday school for 35 years, helping to build Denton Wesleyan Church, and served on the board of John Wesley Camp. For years William and family would sing together for many gatherings and events. In addition to his parents William was also preceded in death by a son, William Calvin Hill and sisters, Nettie E. Hill Loflin and Mary Davis.
William is survived by wife of 65 years, Dorothy “Dot” Loflin Hill of the home; son, Marvin David Hill and wife Tracey of Asheboro; daughters, Ruth Hill Smith and husband David of Concord and Carolyn Hutton and husband Rod of Madbury, New Hampshire; grandchildren, Justin, Julie, Jenna, Olivia, Roderic, Jr., Wesley, and Rosalind; great-grandchildren, Ryker George, McKenna Porter, and Sebastian,
