William Tyler (Bill) Garbee, Sr. age 85 of Mountain Top Drive, Asheboro and formerly of NC HWY 47 Denton, NC died Wednesday, August 13 at Randolph Hospital in Asheboro. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Satuday, August 16 at Siloam United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Sandy Young. Burial will follow in Mountain View Memorial Gardens. Mr. Garbee was born December 20, 1922 in Campbell County, Virginia to William Henry Tyler Garbee and Lillie Lawhorn Garbee. He was a World War II Army veteran serving with the Army Corp of Engineers. He later worked as a civilian employee with the Army Corp of Engineers where he retired as a heavy equipment operator with the Norfolk, Va district. Mr. Garbee was a member of Siloam United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by a son, Miles L. Garbee and a grandson, William T. Garbee, III. He is survived by his wife, Rachel Loflin Garbee of the home, a son, William Tyler Garbee, Jr. of Arlington, Va.; Brothers, Earnest C. Garbee and Keith Garbee both of Lynchburg, Va, and Clyde Lewis Garbee of Bedford, Va.; a sister Charlotte Garbee of Bedford, Va; Three Grandchildren and one Great Grandchild. The family will see friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday at Briggs Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
