William Leo Brown went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 26, 2021. After struggling with congestive heart failure and other health conditions the last four years, he is finally healed and at peace. Graveside Service 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 5, 2021 at First Wesleyan Church Cemetery. Bill, as he was known to friends and family, was born to Kell and Carrie Brown on September 16, 1936. He graduated from Troy High School in 1955 and then joined the United States Air Force where he served as a medic for four years. He loved serving his country and spoke fondly of his many adventures as he traveled throughout the country. After completing his time in the service, he worked for Carolina Power & Light for 35 years. He enjoyed working outside and meeting new people. He loved talking with old friends over a cup of coffee and never seemed to meet a stranger. He married the late Betty Thornburg Brown in 1962 and they were married 51 years until her passing in 2013. Bill is survived by two sons, Doug Brown (Phyllis) of Troy, NC and Mike Brown (Maria) of Forney, TX and one daughter, Debbie Brown Schrader (Terry) of Greenville, TX, seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
