Whitman Thomas Garner

Whitman Thomas Garner, aged 85, of Denton, NC, passed away on March 20, 2025, at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem. Born on March 8, 1940, in Davidson County, he was the son of Robert Quincy Garner and Mary Magdalene Hughes Garner.

Whitman dedicated his career as a supervisor with Dixie Furniture and later with Lexington Home Brands. A devoted member of Old-Fashioned Baptist Church, he served on the board of directors and as church superintendent. His passions included woodworking, gardening, and caring for his goats.

He was predeceased by his parents, brothers Donnel, Clayton, and Herman Garner, and sisters Elna Talbert, Becky Powers, and Pat Hamby. He is survived by his son, Joshua Garner, brothers Clegg and Worth “Duff” Garner, and sisters Elaine Gallimore, Sherill Callicutt, and Kay Craig.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on March 27, 2025, at Old Fashioned Baptist Church, with Rev. Frank Royal officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 AM prior to the service at the church.
