Wayne Morton

Wayne Benson Morton, age 76 of River Rd., Troy died Friday August, 26, 2011 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Monday at Uwharrie United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. William Saunders and Rev. James Rupard. The family will see friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Sunday at Briggs Funeral Home in Troy and other times at the residence. Mr. Morton was born November 16, 1934 in Stanly County to Grover Thomas Morton and Annie White Morton. He was a member of Uwharrie United Methodist Church and worked in textiles. He was preceded in death by his wife; Martha Herron Morton on August 29, 2009, son; Wayne Benson Morton, Jr., grandsons; Greg Morton and Derek Parnell and by his sister, Alma Jewel Bean. Survivors include; girl friend; Joann Hill of Troy, daughters; Cynthia “Cindy” Morton and husband Ricky Hurley of Troy and Ruby Parnell and husband Edgar of Mt. Gilead, brothers; Ernest Morton of Troy and Jennings Morton of Sanford, (2) grandchildren; Martha Thompson and Casey Sedberry, (5) great grandchildren; Cecilily Morton, Tiffney Thompson, Aubrey Sedberry, Carley Sedberry, and Josie Sedberry.
