Walter Glenn Currie

Walter Glenn Currie, 63, of W. Currie Rd., Candor, died Monday, April 16, 2012 at Manor Care of Pinehurst. Graveside inurnment services will be 3:00 PM Sunday at Jackson Springs Cemetery with Rev. Jean Ganzel officiating. Mr. Currie was born January 9, 1949 in Gary, Indiana, the son of Ralph and Donna Maxwell Currie. He served as a Naval Chief Petty Officer during the Vietnam War and was a volunteer fireman with the Candor Fire Department. He is survived by a son, Jason Currie of Brandon, SD; his parents, Ralph and Donna Currie of Candor; 2 brothers, Jeffrey Lee Currie of Corpus Christi, TX and Keith Paul Currie and wife Lee of Liberty; 3 sisters, Nora Jane Currie of Candor, Tina Gay Currie of Austin, TX and Susan Beth Currie of Hampton, VA. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 PM Saturday, April 21, 2012 at the residence of Ralph and Donna Currie. The family requests no flowers and memorials may be made to Candor Presbyterian Church, PO Box 635, Candor NC 27229 or to the charity of the donor’s choice. Briggs-Candor Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
