Von Thomas Garner, age 79 of Ebel Church Rd., Denton died Monday, July 19 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Friday, July 23 at Siloam United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Sandy Young, Rev. Claudie Harrison, and Rev. Jamie Draughn. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Garner was born March 30, 1931 in Davidson County to Nereus Garner and Connie Marie Snider Garner. He was a member of Siloam United Methodist Church and also was a self-employed carpenter. Survivors include, wife; Frances Hulin Garner of the home, two sons; Danny Thomas Garner and wife Angie of Thomasville, Dennis Andy Garner and wife Linda Evans of Denton, one daughter; Denise Garner Bishop and husband James of Denton, one brother; Nolan Garner and wife Polly of Lexington, two half brothers; James Allen Garner and wife Bonnie, N.A. Garner and wife Joyce all of Denton, one step brother; Don Shaw and wife Sylvia of Thomasville, two half sisters; Patty Meisenheimer and husband Vernon of Burlington, Gayle Lamb and husband Joe of Boiling Springs, one step sister; Anna Mae Burleson of Carrollton, MD., seven grandchildren; Shawn, Justin, and Haley Bishop, Isaac and Jacob Garner, Kristen Garner and Justin Gragg, one great grandchild; Bailynn Gragg. The family will see friends on Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton and other times at the residence.
