Virgil C. Reid Sr. CANDOR — Virgil Cayton “Speedy” Reid Sr., 85, of South Main Street, died Wednesday, April 26, 2006, at Sandy Ridge Assisted Living. Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Candor Cemetery, with the Rev. Bill Mitchell officiating. He was a native of Rockingham County, the widower of Josephine Reid, a retired car dealer and a World War II U.S. Army veteran. Surviving are sons, Virgil C. Reid Jr. of Seven Lakes, Jim E. Reid of Greensboro; sister, Annie Lee Winfree of Candor; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. The family will be at Briggs-Candor Funeral Home, Candor, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday, other times at the home of Virgil Reid Jr., Seven Lakes.
