Vernon Dorsett

Mr. Robert Vernon Dorsett, 94, of Garner Rd., Denton, NC passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2022, at Hinkle Hospice House.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Friday, Feb. 4, at Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel conducted by Rev. Shane Smith. Interment will follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Briggs Funeral Home and other times at the home of daughter, Vickie Yates on Jackson Creek Rd.

Mr. Dorsett was born in Davidson County on March 24, 1927, to Frank Dorsett and Lillian Poole Dorsett. He attended First Baptist Church in Denton. In addition to working for the Town of Denton in the Public Works Department for over 30 years he also served Denton as an Auxiliary Police officer and as a Fireman with Denton Fire Department. He was preceded in death by his wife, Geneva Hughes Dorsett.

He is survived by sons, Raeford Dorsett and wife Brenda, James Dorsett and wife Pamela all of Denton, and Buddy Dorsett of Thomasville; daughter, Vickie Yates and husband Dennis of Denton; sister, Lucille Briles of Asheboro; 9 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
