Vernie Cobb Surratt

Ms. Vernie Catherine Cobb Surratt, 97, formerly of Chapel Hill Ch. Rd., Denton passed away on Friday, Dec. 21, 2018 at Mountain Vista Health Park.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 am Thursday, Dec. 27 at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church with Rev. Chris Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton and other times at the home of Kathy Hall on Chapel Hill Ch. Rd.

Ms. Surratt was born September 10, 1921 in Rowan County to Joe Cobb and Pat Coggins Cobb. She was a homemaker and a member Eldorado Baptist Church. Vernie was preceded in death by her husband, Buren Surratt; brother, Clayton Cobb; and sister, Annie Bell Cobb Harris.

She is survived by daughter, Kathy Hall and husband Scott of Denton; grandchildren, Jason Hall and Megan Hall.
