Vancy Bruton Scott, 90, died Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at The Oaks in Huntersville, NC. Funeral Service will be at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, January 8, 2011 at Parsons Grove United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with Rev. William K. Mitchell, Jr. and Rev. William Saunders officiating. Burial will follow in the Bruton Family Cemetery. Born Vancy Iretta Bruton on November 15, 1920, she was one of eleven children of Redric and Nealie Batten Bruton. She was a graduate of Troy High School. She married Cleveland D. Scott in 1939. They were married for 45 years before his death in 1984. She was later married to Marshall Hall until his death. Mrs. Scott lived in Montgomery County all of her life until 9 years ago when she moved to Huntersville, NC to be nearer her family. Mrs. Scott worked in the Furniture Industry and volunteered in the Senior Citizen’s Center in Troy, NC preparing taxes. In later years, she served as a Volunteer at Montgomery Memorial Hospital in Troy, NC. She enjoyed working in her vegetable and flower gardens, preparing delicious meals for her family, and spending time with family friend, Ralph Goforth. Mrs. Scott is survived by her son, David L. Scott and wife, Brenda, of Huntersville, NC, daughter-in-law, Mary Emma Scott, of Charlotte, NC, her Grandchildren: Arona Haywood and husband, David; Jeff Scott and wife, Mandy; Deanna Mullis and husband, Ashley; and Billie Kerr and husband, Jeff. Her great-grandchildren: Dawson, Kaide, and Thatcher Haywood, Landon Scott, Karlie and Grey Mullis, and Morgan and Jacob Kerr and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by husbands, Cleveland Scott and Marshall Hall, and her son, H. Aro. Scott. The family will receive friends from 12:30-2:00 PM Saturday prior to the funeral in the fellowship hall of Parsons Grove UMC.
