Vada Burkhead Smith

Mrs. Beatrice Vada Burkhead Smith, age 90, of South NC Hwy. 109, Denton died Friday, April 23 at Clapp’s Convalescent Nursing Home in Asheboro. Service for Mrs. Smith will be 4:00 pm Sunday, April 25 at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church with Rev. Chris Smith and Rev. Derald Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Smith was born September 23, 1919 in Davidson County to McKeever and Nan Smith Burkhead. She was a homemaker and a member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, James Olon Smith and daughter, Diane Smith Taylor, both on March 24, 1999 and by her son, Jerry Mack Smith on October 16, 1987. She is survived by grandchildren, Todd Taylor, Nan Sowers and Scott Taylor, all of Denton and great-grandchildren, Natasha Taylor, Lynn Rogers and Nathan Rogers. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Saturday at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton
