Mr. Charles Tyler Varner, 94, of E. Third St. Denton, NC passed away on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at his residence.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, May 28 at Denton Town Cemetery conducted by Rev. Vern Peterson and Mr. Clinton Snider, Chaplain of Denton Fire Department.
Mr. Varner was born February 6, 1927 in Davidson County to William Henry Varner and Ora Ida Kinney Varner. He was a graduate of Denton High School “Class of 1945” and a member of First Baptist Church. Following graduation Tyler served in the United State Army Air Corp during WWII. Tyler served in the Denton Fire Department for 64 years. He worked for the United States Postal Service as a rural mail carrier. In addition to his parents Tyler was also preceded in death by a son, Charles Ty Varner; brothers, Lloyd Lynn Varner and Willie B. Varner; sisters, Sara Varner, Johnsie Varner, Valena Lanier, Flaudie Andrews, Vearl Pearce.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Inez Lanier Varner of the home; son, Todd Varner and wife Leslie of Denton; 2 grandsons, Will Varner and Ty Varner and fiancée, Helen Jenkins; 1 great-granddaughter, Suttton Rae Varner.
The family will receive friends at the residence on E. Third St. in Denton.
