Mr. Thomas (Tommy) Lamar Russell age 47, of Handy Rd., Denton, NC passed away Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2016. A service to celebrate the life of Tommy will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, Nov. 28 at Denton Wesleyan Church conducted by Rev. Johnny Daniels and Rev. Derald Smith. Tommy was born June 22, 1969 in Stanly County to the late James Cleo Russell and Clara Loflin Russell. He was a graduate of Denton High School and was employed with Carquest Auto Parts as manager of the Thomasville location and previously the Denton location. He attended East Corinth Baptist Church in Rowan County. Tommy was a member of South Davidson Fire Department for 33 years where he had served as chief and was currently serving as assistant chief. Tommy had a passion for helping people and making them smile. Surviving are wife, Teresa Hulin Russell of the home; son, Landon Russell of Denton; step-son, Jesse Cribb of Denton; step-daughter, Josie Alexander of Denton; brother, Mike Russell of Denton. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton and other times at the residence on Handy Rd.
