Tommy Edward Hughes, 78, of High Point, NC, passed away on Sunday, May 11, 2025. Born on May 16, 1946, in Davidson County, he was the son of Claude Edgebert Hughes and Sadie Hill Hughes. Tommy proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps and was a dedicated member of Faith Wesleyan Church in Greensboro and The Sons of the Confederacy. He was self-employed as the owner/operator of his own long distance trucking company. In addition to his parents, Tommy was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Charles Hughes, and sisters, Maxine Hughes Eddinger and two infant sisters. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Brenda Anderson Hughes; sons, Jason Bert Hughes and his wife, Stephanie, and Nathan Ross Hege and his wife, Lauren; and four grandchildren, Jacie and Jacob Hughes and Brooklyn and Blaine Hege; in addition, several nieces, and nephews. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Faith Wesleyan Church, 4425 Rehobeth Church Rd., Greensboro, NC 27406. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 17, at Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel officiated by Rev. James Daryl Lewis, following the service the family will greet friends with refreshments at Park Place in Denton. Burial will take place at 11:00 AM on Monday, May 19, at The Salisbury National Cemetery with military honors by the United States Marine Corps.
