Thomas Ira (Tom) Bean, 75, of Lanning Drive, Denton died Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at Mountain Vista Health Park in Denton. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Friday, August 1, 2008 at Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Rev. Joe Thomas officiating and burial will follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens. Mr. Bean was born August 14, 1932 in Davidson County to Ernest Bean and Viola Godfrey Bean. He was a graduate of Denton High School and Catawba College. He was a Charter Member of Franklin Baptist Church in Salisbury and had also been a member of the Franklin Ellis Lions Club in Salisbury. He retired as an Administrative Manager for Cannon Mills in Kannapolis and Concord. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Survivors include, wife; Joann Walker Bean of the home, son; Edward Thomas (Eddie) Bean and wife Chris Bennett Bean of Charlotte, sister; Dorothy Eller of Lexington, and grandchildren Bennett Bean and Marlaina Bean. The family will see friends Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton other times at the residence on Lanning Drive, Denton.
