Tennie Mozelle Shaw Cornelison

Tennie Mozelle Shaw Cornelison, a beloved member of our community and a woman of unwavering faith, passed away on September 23, 2025, at Mountain Vista Health Park in Denton. She was born on January 31, 1925, in Randolph County, NC, to proud parents Gus Shaw and Tish Cranford Shaw.

Throughout her life, Tennie dedicated herself to both her family and her career. A respected figure in the textile industry, she also shared her knowledge and passion for education by teaching at the former New Hope School. Her commitment to her work was matched only by her devotion to her family, which she cherished deeply.

Tennie's enduring spirit was reflected in her many hobbies and interests. She found joy in quilting and cross-stitching, creating beautiful works that will be treasured by her loved ones. Her green thumb flourished as she cultivated her flowers, which brought color and life to her surroundings.

She is survived by her two sons, Donnie Cornelison (Florence) and Ronnie Cornelison (Patricia), and her daughter, Joyce Gallimore. Tennie was a proud grandmother to six grandchildren, and she delighted in the joys of life with six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Tennie was preceded in death by her husband, David Cornelison, and she was the last surviving child of Gus and Tish Shaw.

A visitation will be held on September 25, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Briggs Funeral Home - Denton Chapel in Denton, NC. A funeral service will take place on September 26, 2025, at Calvary Gospel Church at 11:00 AM, followed interment in the church cemetery.

Tennie Mozelle Shaw Cornelison will be remembered for her loving spirit, her dedication to her family, and her contributions to the community. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those fortunate enough to know her and love her.
