Stephen "Steve" Hedrick

Stephen “Steve” George Hedrick, 77, of Denton, NC passed away on Sunday, March 17, 2024, at his residence.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, March 21, at Denton Town Cemetery officiated by Chaplain David Wooten and Chaplain Billy Loyua of the DCSO. Honors will be by the Davidson County Sheriff's Office.

Mr. Hedrick was born on February 22, 1947, in Davidson County, the son of William Earl Hedrick and Lavona Bobbie Jarvis Hedrick.  Steve graduated from Denton High School and went on to serve in the United States Air Force. After returning home from the service Steve began his career in Law Enforcement that spanned over 40 years. He began as an auxiliary police officer with the Denton Police Department before going full time with the Davidson County Sheriff’s Department where he retired as Major of Civil and Jail Departments. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Danny Hedrick.

He is survived by his wife, Marian Rivera-Hedrick of the home; stepson, Nathan Rivera of Denton; brothers, William E. Hedrick (Virginia) of Greensboro and Phil Hedrick (Paula) of Denton; sisters, Carol White of Lexington, Angie Hogan (Tommy) of Asheboro, and Jan Wrublewski (Steve) of Thomasville.

Mr. Hedrick will lie in state on Thursday, March 21, from 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton.
