Sidney Garner

Sidney Alford Garner, 83, of Summerville Church Rd, died Saturday, July 23, 2022 at Mountain Vista Health Park.

A private family visitation followed by a private family graveside service  at Mountain View Memorial Gardens will be held on Tuesday.

Born on June 8, 1939, he was the son of Joe Alpha and Rillie Hunt Garner.  He was retired from the Heating and Air Industry and was a farmer.  He was a member of Victory Baptist Church of Lexington.  Sidney was preceded in death by brothers, C.F. Garner and Ashley Garner; sister, Louise Pierce.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Hedrick Garner of Denton; son, Zane Garner (Monica L.) of Denton; 2 Granddaughters, Hannah Cantu (David) and Haley O’Neal (Carter);3 Great-grandchildren, Noah and  Lucas Cantu and Isaiah O’Neal; step-grandson, Chris Small (Kaylan) of Denton; 2 step-granddaughters, Breanna Olson (Eddie) of Nashua, NH and  Amanda Safford (Johnny) of Salisbury; 2 step-great-granddaughters, Carly and Chandler Small; brother, Barry Garner (Mary Ann) of Lexington; sisters, JoAnn Davis and Sue Ramsey, both of Denton, Wanda Lanning of Lexington.

The family requests no flowers.  Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Briggs Funeral Home of Denton is in charge of arrangements.
