Shirley Harrison Terrell

October 2, 1935 — May 29, 2018

Ms. Shirley Harrison Terrell, age 82, of Handy Road, Denton, NC passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at Hinkle Hospice House after a brief illness.   A graveside service will take place a Clear Springs United Methodist Church, 4321 South Main Street, Denton, NC at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 2, 2018.   Shirley was born in Handy, NC on October 2, 1935.  She was the daughter of Charles Lee Harrison, Sr. and Grace Lanier Harrison.  She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Charles Lee Harrison, Jr., Steven Van Harrison, Sr., Henry Lance Harrison and sisters, Donnie Pearl Russell Mathis, Barbara Jean Harrison and infant Ava Moselle Harrison.   In 1953, she graduated from Denton High School and attended nursing school for one year.  Shirley was Office Administrator, “The Boss” for Terrell Brothers Manufacturing Company from 1964 to 2006. She retired that year.   Shirley is survived by two sons, Wesley Kirk Terrell of Handy Road, Denton, NC and Jay Michael Terrell and wife Lisa of West Columbia, SC.  She had one grandson, Jacob Michael Terrell of West Columbia, SC and many cousins, nieces and nephews from the Denton area to California.  She was deeply involved in family genealogy regarding family and burial sites of relatives throughout the Davidson County area. She was a contributing columnist for the Denton Record and Orator covering topics of historical relevance and nature.  She really loved her heritage and family history! Shirley will be remembered for her compassionate nature, community pride and devotion to her sons.   Her sons would like to thank the staff and caregivers at Novant Thomasville Medical Center, Forsyth Medical Center, Lexington Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Mountain Vista Health Park, Hinkle Hospice House and personal physicians for their professionalism and compassionate care throughout her illness.  A thank you is also extended to Dr. Clifton Baker for his care while she was at Mountain Vista.   Memorials may be made to Hinkle Hospice House, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292 and any church of your choosing.   Briggs Funeral Home is serving the Terrell family.   Online condolences may be made at www.briggsfuneralhome.com
