Shirley English Shipton

Shirley Jean English Shipton, 80, of Shiptontown Rd., Denton, NC passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2022, at her residence.

A funeral service will be 2:30 PM Thursday, July 7, at Floyd Baptist Church with Pastor Keith Carroll and Rev. Wilson Harris officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Shirley was born August 29, 1941, in Robeson County, NC to Alex Thomas English and Blanche Massengill English. She was a member of Mount Zion Wesleyan Church and had worked in the hosiery industry for many years. In addition to parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Roy Vestal Shipton; brothers, Robert English and James Thomas English; a sister, Catherine Ann English; and a son-in-law, Leonard Britt.

She is survived by sons, Steve Shipton (Barbara) and Jerry Shipton (Amy) all of Denton; daughters, Lisa Britt of Mt. Gilead and Joanne Jackson (Jan) of Christiansburg, VA; 7 grandchildren, Jeremy Jackson, Emily Jackson Crimmins, Chad Shipton, Bradley Shipton, Tabitha Alanis, Lauren Britt, and Landis Britt; 6 great-grandchildren, Ethan, Gavin, Haylee, Savanna, McKenzie, and Izzy.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 1:00 until 2:30 PM at Floyd Baptist Church and other times at the residence.
