Shelby Jean Sheppard

Shelby Jean Sheppard, 77, of S. School St., Candor, died Thursday, August 29, 2019 at Woodhaven Court Nursing Facility in Albemarle.  Funeral Service will be 11:00 AM Monday, September 2, 2019 at Briggs-Candor Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will follow in the Candor Cemetery.   Ms. Sheppard was born December 13, 1941 in Montgomery County, the daughter of Paul and Edna Hargett Sheppard.  She was of the Baptist faith.  Ms. Sheppard was preceded in death by her son, Glen “Shep” Parnell; grandson, Cameron Parnell; brothers, Dorris Shepard, and Paul Sheppard; sister, Brenda Sheppard.   She is survived by 2 daughters, Judi Sheppard Shaw of Troy, and Barbara S. Haywood of Troy; son, David Parnell, and wife Honor of Ft. Mill SC; sister, Nancy Allred and husband Donald of Candor; 4 brothers, Ronald Shepard and wife Pearl of Star, Donald Sheppard and wife Joyce of Troy, Frank Sheppard and wife Lynn of Mt. Airy, and John Sheppard of Troy; 4 Grandchildren, Brandi Hernandez (Denny), Colby Parnell (Amanda), and Joseph McCurry (Andrea), Robert Haywood; 4 great-grandchildren, Parker Gregory, Wesley, and Gunner Hernandez and Keaton Parnell; several special nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.   The family will receive friends from 10:30 – 11 AM Monday prior to the service at Briggs-Candor Funeral Home Chapel.   The family requests no flowers and memorials to be made to The Gideons International Processing Center, P.O. Box 97251, Washington, DC 20090-7251 or the Montgomery County Humane Society, 442 Landfill Rd, Mt Gilead, NC 27306.   Briggs-Candor Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
