Shafter Harrison Odom

Shafter Harrison Odom, 95, of Substation Road, Troy, died Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at FirstHealth Hospice House in Pinehurst. A Graveside Service will be 11 AM Friday at Southside Cemetery in Troy. Born on December 14, 1920 in Chatham County, he was the son of Harrison and Loretta Garner Odom. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Lillie Mae Odom in 2006 and a daughter Wilma Beane in 2012. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9881 in Biscoe and The NC American Legion Post 159 in Troy. He was a United States Marine serving in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He is survived by his loving daughters Lois Morton of the home, Joyce Allen of Star and Doris Odom of Florida; sister Ruby Perkins of Darlington, SC; 9 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Thursday at Briggs Funeral Home Troy. Briggs Funeral Home of Troy is in charge of arrangements.
