DATELINE: Denton, NC EDITION: Friday, May 16, 2008 NAME HEADING: Sarah “Polly” Hogan Sarah “Polly” Stafford Hogan, age 89 of Denton died Thursday, May 15 in the home of caregivers, daughter Kathy Wilson and her husband Jim of Asheboro. Funeral service will be held 3:00 pm Sunday, May 18 at New Hope United Methodist Church with Rev. Joe Conley and Rev. J. Harold Hammond officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Hogan was born February 4, 1919 in Randolph County to James P. and Della Davis Stafford. She was a graduate of Farmer School. She was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church and was retired from Stedman/Sara Lee in Asheboro. Polly was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Family was her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Reece Hogan on January 25, 1981, brothers J. P. Stafford and Claud Stafford and son Harold Hogan. Mrs. Hogan is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Brown and husband Wylie of Denton and Kathy Wilson and husband Jim of Asheboro, sons Tommy Hogan and wife Angie of Asheboro, Larry Hogan and wife Ruth of Denton, David Hogan and wife Olga of Fayetteville and Danny Hogan and wife Beverly of Denton, daughter-in-law Betty Jo Cagle Hogan of Asheboro, fourteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Saturday at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton and other times at the home in the New Hope community.
