Mrs Ruth Trotter Yates, age 93 of Jackson Creek Road, Denton died Thursday, August 27 at Randolph Hospital. A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, August 30 at Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel conducted by Rev. Claudie Harrison and Rev. Brian Cole. Burial will follow at Pleasant Union Community Church Cemetery. Mrs. Yates was born July 5, 1916 in Randolph County to John Melton Trotter and Mattie Poole Trotter. She was a homemaker and with her husband ran Yates Poultry Farm. She was of Methodist Faith. She was preceded in death by her parents, by sisters, Maggie Trotter, Elsie Trotter, Edith Trotter, Carrie Westmoreland and Jessie Cody and by brothers Troy Trotter, Lewis Trotter and Rodney Trotter. She is survived by her husband R. Glenn Yates of the Home; a daughter Hazel Staley and husband Burnice of Asheboro; sons, Paul Yates and wife Betty, Houston Yates and wife Janice all of Denton; Clyde Yates and wife Betty of Trinity and Allen Yates and wife Mattie of Lexington. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, by 12 great grandchildren, and by 4 great great grandchildren. The family will see friends at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Saturday and other times at the residence on Jackson Creek Road.. The family would like to give special thanks to the caregivers who assisted Mrs. Yates at her home.
