Ruth Taylor Carter, 76, of Broad Street, died Friday, Jan. 12, 2007, at Forsyth Regional Hospital, Winston-Salem. Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Monday at Central United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Benny Clodfelter officiating. Burial will be in Denton Town Cemetery. She was a native of Aberdeen, graduated from Thomasville High School, attended Women’s College in Greensboro, was a member of the Business Professional Women’s Club, Davidson County Community College Board of Trustees, Denton School Advisory Committee, Davidson County Mental Health Board, Denton Area Chamber of Commerce from whom she received the 2002 Lifetime Achievement Award and was on the Tarheel Triad Girl Scout Council. She worked at Henley Paper Company in High Point and Thornton Knitting Company in Denton. Along with her husband, she founded Wilson Carter Supply Company where she was co-owner/operator and secretary/treasurer until retirement. At her church, Central United Methodist Church, she taught Sunday School and Bible School, and was an Administrative Board member, past chairman of the Mary Frances Stubbs Circle, past president in the United Methodist Women, and past District Mission Chairman. Surviving are husband, B. Wilson Carter; daughters, Cathy C. Morris of Fuquay-Varina, Susie C. Burns and Anne C. Bean, both of Denton; five grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren. The family will be at Briggs Funeral Home, Denton, 5-8 p.m. Sunday.
