Ruby Ligon Tysinger

March 21, 1946 — February 10, 2015

Mrs. Ruby (Tiny) Ligon Tysinger, age 68, of Denton died Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at Hinkle Hospice House. Funeral service for Mrs. Tysinger will be 2:00 pm Saturday, February 14 at Cid United Methodist Church with Rev. Sandy Young and Rev. Doug Rowe officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Friday at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton and other times at the homeplace and home of a sister Janet Ligon on Old Hwy. 109. Ruby was the middle child, number 7 of 13 children, born March 21, 1946 in Randolph County to Leon and Della Garren Ligon. After her mother’s death Ruby became the matriarch of the Ligon clan. Ruby has been the glue that kept an extended family together across generations and geography. She was a graduate of Denton High School and was an active member of Cid United Methodist Church for almost 50 years. She was a member of the Methodist Women where she served as treasurer and served as financial secretary in the church for many years. She worked for 25 years at Bossong Hosiery and 23 years at Harriss Covington. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Paul Ligon. Ruby is survived by her husband of 46 years, Cletus Tysinger of the home; brothers, Reitzel Ligon and wife Carol, Luther Ligon and wife Gail and Carlie Ligon and wife Janice, all of Lexington and Roger Ligon and wife Beth of Denton; sisters, Annie Maulden and husband Jack of Pensacola, Florida, Rachel Lemonds and husband Tommy of Asheboro, Frances Adams and husband R. Q. of Denton, Kathleen Southern and husband Maynard of Stokesdale, Judy Cross and husband Rondal of Lexington, Janet Ligon of Lexington and Anglyn Parrish and husband Tim of Thomasville. She was aunt to 21 nieces and nephews and great aunt to many who fondly called her Nana Ruby/Nana Tiny. She is also survived by her dear friend and “sister” Dianne Carrick.
