Roy Ausbon Smith

Roy Ausbon Smith, 85, of Farmer-Denton Rd., Denton, died Saturday, August 1, 2026 at Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro. Funeral Service will be 11:00 AM Saturday, August 8, 2026 at Farmer Baptist Church, with Rev. Daniel Delaney officiating. Burial will follow in the Farmer United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Born in Chatham County on February 11, 1941, he was the son of Ausbon Idane and Nora Cagle Smith. He was a member of Fayetteville Street Baptist Church in Asheboro and worked NC DOT for over 34 years. Roy was a hard working farmer and loved growing things. He was a volunteer Farmer firefighter for over 50 years. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Linda Richardson Smith.

Roy is survived by his son, Kevin J. Smith (Rebecca) of Plaistow NH; daughter, Sharon R. Smith of Asheboro; 2 sisters, Patsy Comer (Arnold) of Seagrove, and Nancy Cranford (Kenneth) of Denton; 5 Grandchildren, Tierra, Christionna, Emma, Hannah, and Nora; 3 Great-grandchildren, Emma-Marie, Elle-Ray, and Zion.

The family will receive friends from 10-11 AM prior to the service on Saturday at Farmer Baptist Church.
