Rose Surratt

Ms. Rosalie “Rose” Carroll Surratt age 94, formerly of E. Salisbury St. Denton died Monday, December 2, 2013 at Mountain Vista Health Park. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, Dec. 5 at Central United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Sharon Lee and Rev. James Cooper. Interment will follow at Denton Town Cemetery. Rose was born April 17, 1919 in Davidson County to Benjamin Carroll and Gertrude Ward Carroll. She was a graduate of Denton High School, a member of Central United Methodist Church, and a member of Mary Frances Stubbs Circle of the United Methodist Women. She retired at age 91 after 30 years of working as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Mountain Vista Health Park. She was preceded in death by her husband; Excell Surratt, son; Tony Surratt, and grandchildren; Stephanie Easter and Ben Peacock. Survivors include, sons; Mike Surratt and wife Setsu and Ricky Surratt and wife Cherry all of Denton, daughter; Patricia Queen and husband Jeff of Lexington, daughter in law; Ann Surratt of Wilmington, sister; Rachel Richards of Farmington, New Mexico, 7 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton.
