Ronda Smith Walton

Mrs. Ronda Kay Smith Walton, age 82, of Cook Road, Denton, NC passed away on September 14, 2026 at Atrium Health Baptist Medical Center.

A service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2026 at Chapel Hill Global Methodist Church with Rev. Chris Smith and Rev. Thomas Frizzell officiating with burial to take place in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 18, 2026 at Briggs Funeral Home.

Ronda was born on October 4, 1943 in Davidson County to Arthur Reece Smith and Carmol Cloie Luther Smith. She was a graduate of Denton High School class of 1962 and graduate of Ashemore Business College class of 1963. After Business College she went to work for Thomasville Furniture in Human Resources for 50+ years. Married her first husband, Dawson M. "Pee Wee" Carrick in 1963 until his death in 1992. Married Mickey "Mic" Walton on November 18, 1995 who passed away on July 29, 2026. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Bobbie Smith.

She was an active member of Chapel Hill Global Methodist Church all of her life.  Ronda served in various areas of church, youth leader, pianist, Sunday School Teacher, member of Official Board and Church Trustee. Ronda was well known for her delicious Red Velvet Cakes that she donated to the Denton Lions Club for their auctions and also to church functions. She was always busy crocheting or sewing blankets for mothers of new babies or grandbabies.  Ronda was always serving, loving, and caring for friends and family.

Ronda is survived by her daughter, Kelly Surratt and her husband Todd of Oak Island, NC; son, Brad Walton and his wife Jammie of Tampa, FL; grandsons, Justin Surratt and his wife Brittany and Jadin Surratt; numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Chapel Hill Global Methodist Church, PO Box 1967, Denton NC 27239 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105.
