Hugh Ronald Cox “Ronnie” of New London was 62 years old when he passed away peacefully last Thursday, Feb. 18, 2016, at Baptist Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer for the last several years. Ronnie was raised in Asheboro, and graduated from Asheboro High School. Shortly afterwards, he served in the United States Marine Corps. Before Ronnie passed away, he was a truck driver for Old Dominion Freight Lines of Greensboro, N.C. Ronnie was one of two children born to the late James Cox and Shirly Cox. He was the beloved husband to Michelle B. Cox. Ronnie is survived by his devoted brother, Rick Gene Cox; wife, Mary Beth Cox; son, Hugh Brian Cox along with his wife Tara Cox; daughter, Alysia Widener; and step-daughter Rebecca Blackford and her husband Joshua Blackford. Ronnie is also survived by 10 grandchildren, along with countless other friends and family that were blessed to know him. Ronnie loved listening to music, going fishing and having fun with friends. Ronnie touched the lives of many people with his smile and generosity while maintaining a sense of humor all the way to the end. Friends and family are invited to attend the Memorial Service on Saturday, March 5, 2016, beginning at 1 p.m. at Chandler Grove United Methodist Church, 2535 Blain Road, New London, N.C.
