Lt. Commander Ronald Earl (Ronnie) Buzhardt, Jr., US Coast Guard (Retired), 75 of NC Hwy 47, Lexington, died Friday, February 05, 2010. Funeral Service will be 2:00 PM Sunday, February 7, 2010 at First United Methodist Church in Denton, where he was a member, with Rev. Bill Foust and Rev. Lamar Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Mountain View Memorial Gardens with military honors. Born in Greenville County, SC on April 22, 1934, the son of Ronald Earl Buzhardt, Sr. and Thelma Surratt Buzhardt, he retired after 25 years in the US Coast Guard as a Lt. Commander. After his Coast Guard retirement, he was a cattleman, and was a member in several cattleman associations. He was a First UMC choir member, a member of the Kathleen Loflin Sunday School Class and served on the Denton School Advisory Committee when South Davidson High School was formed. He was preceded in death by his father, Ronald Earl Buzhardt, Sr. and his mother, Thelma Buzhardt Daniel. Mr. Buzhardt is survived by his wife, Jean Tysinger Buzhardt of the home, a son, Dr. Scott Buzhardt and his wife, Dr. Lynn Buzhardt of Zachary, LA; 2 daughters, Glenda Dobey and husband Larry of Lexington, and Amy Medlin and husband Barry of Lexington; a brother, Harry Daniel of Asheboro; 2 sisters, Pat Leinbach of Winston Salem and Gail Shaw of Louisville, KY; 6 Grandchildren, Dr. Matthew Buzhardt and wife Dr. Sarah Buzhardt, Joshua Snell and wife Kelly, Paul Buzhardt and wife Mary-Katherine, Jonathan Dobey, Tyler Medlin, and Bayli Medlin; 2 Step-grandchildren, Brandon Dobey and Ashley Medlin. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Saturday at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton and other times at the residence. Memorials may be made to First UMC or to the charity of the donors choice.
