Roland Steed

Roland Loftin Steed, age 84 of Lanning Drive, Denton, NC died Saturday, July 29 at High Point Regional Hospital. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Sandy Young and Rev. Stan Champion and burial will follow in the Denton Town Cemetery. Mr. Steed was born January 4, 1922 in Davidson County to Franklin Reid Steed and Ollie Loftin Steed. He was a self-employed Lumberman and a WWII veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and was preceded in death by brothers, Jennings Steed and James Steed and sisters, Louella Workman and Gladys Spencer. He is survived by his wife, Erlene Varner Steed, sons, Eddie Steed and wife Barbara of Swansboro; Ronnie Steed of Denton and Dave Steed and wife Lois of Mooresville. Daughters, Kitty Lineberry and husband Wayne of Denton and Jill McDowell and husband Sam of Wilkesboro. Sister Shirley Ridenhour of Rockwell. 8 Grandchildren and 6 Great Grandchildren. The family will see friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Monday at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton.
