Roland Edward Steed

Roland Edward (Eddie) Steed, Sr., age 81, of Swansboro passed away on December 24, 2024 at Snow Hill Memory Care in Snow Hill, NC. He was born on September 20, 1944 in Denton, NC to Roland and Erlene Varner Steed.  He is survived by children, Kimberly (Rob) Diokno of Raleigh, Andrew (Melanie) of Greenville, Eddie Steed Jr. (Dianne) of Denton and six grandchildren. By wife Brenda Steed of Goldsboro, sister Kitty Steed Gallimore of Jacksonville, Florida, brother Dave Steed (Lois) of Myrtle Beach and numerous nephews and cousins.  He was preceded by his his parents, sister Jill McDowell and brother Ronnie Steed.

Eddie graduated from Denton High School and attended East Carolina University and UNC Chapel Hill law school.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the Vietnam war.  He was employed in the insurance industry for over 40 years.

He was an avid fan and supporter of ECU athletics and his favorite pastime was cheering on the Pirates football and baseball teams.  He also had a great enthusiasm for deep sea fishing.

The family would like to thank the staff at Snow Hill Memory Care and Gentevia Hospice House for their loving care in the past few months.
