Roger Overton

James Roger Overton, 72, of Burkhead St. Candor died Friday, Jan. 30, 2009 at his residence. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Monday, Feb. 2, 2009 at Briggs-Candor Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Rambeau and Rev. Dana Brewer officiating. Interment will follow at Marcus United Methodist Church Cemetery. Mr. Overton was born August 5, 1936 in Montgomery County. He worked as a machinist with Spring Mill in Rockingham. Survivors include; his mother; Georgia Overton Earnhardt of Candor, brother; Rickey Earnhardt and wife Judy of Charlotte, sisters; Gale Whittenton and husband Lonal Ray of Dunn, Joyce Johnson and husband George of Greensboro, GA., and Brenda Hodges and husband Douglas of Dunn. The family will see friends on Monday from 1:00 to 2:00 PM prior to the service at Briggs-Candor Funeral Home in Candor and other times at the residence on Burkhead St. Memorials can be made to Marcus United Methodist Church in c/o Linda Williams 141 Research Farm Rd., Candor NC, 27229.
