Roger Dean Hamilton

Roger Dean Hamilton, 70, of Research Farm Rd., Candor, died Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at his residence.  Funeral Service will be 2:00 PM Friday, October 5, 2018 at Norman First Baptist Church, with Rev. Chris Thornton and Rev. Greg Carter officiating.  Burial will follow at the Norman Cemetery.   Born January 29, 1948 in Montgomery County, he was the son of Alcon and Inez Reynolds Hamilton.  He was a farmer and a member of Norman First Baptist Church.   He is survived by his wife, Carol Haywood Hamilton of the home; son, Brian Keith Hamilton (Jessica) of Jackson Springs; 3 daughters, Beth Hamilton Walker (Mike) of Seven Lakes, Gaynell Hamilton Greene (Dwayne) of Rockingham, and Jan Hamilton Lanier (Chris) of Ellerbe; 2 brothers, Ronnie Hamilton of Oak Island, NC, Allen Hamilton of Thomasville; sister, Lucy Hall of Norman; 8 grandchildren, Mackenzie Walker, Clayton Walker, Collin Walker, Brianna Hamilton, Abigail Hamilton, Garrett Hamilton, Nicholas Lanier, and Caleb Lanier.   The family will receive friends from 1-1:45 PM prior to the service on Friday at Norman First Baptist Church, and other times at the residence on Research Farm Rd., Candor.   Flowers accepted or memorials may be made to Richmond County Hospice, 1119 N US Hwy 1, Rockingham NC  28379 or Norman First Baptist Church, PO Box 122, Norman NC  28367.   Briggs-Candor Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
