Robert "Bobby" Lewis

Robert (Bobby) Lewis, 82, of Cole Rd., Candor, passed away Thursday, August 9, 2012 at his home. Funeral Service will be 3:00 PM Sunday, August 12, 2012 at Eagle Springs UMC in Eagle Springs with Rev. Eric Joyce and Rev. Myron Dice officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery with military rites. Bobby was born June 8, 1930 in Candor, the son of the late James Robert and Bertie Lamonds Lewis. He was the owner and operator of Lewis Repair Shop for over 30 years. He served as lead mechanic for Resorts of Pinehurst for 32 years with his doctor’s degree in mechanics. He served in the US Army during the Korean War and was a longtime member of Eagle Springs United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold Lewis and Billy Lewis. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jeanettie Blake Lewis; a son, Nelson Lewis of Asheboro; 3 daughters, Audrey Springs of Mooresville, Penny Black of Candor and Deanna Bynum of Ellerbe. Bobby was known as “Pop” by his grandchildren, Todd Lewis, Neal Lewis, Kristy Parsons, Rob Ester, Dr. Anna Ross, Joseph Springs, Rick Bynum, Worth Bynum and Paige Black; great-grandchildren, Tyler and Lily Parsons and a brother, Ray Lewis of Asheboro. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 PM Sunday prior to the service at Eagle Springs UMC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Eagle Springs UMC, PO Box 123, Eagle Springs NC 27242 or to Community Home Care & Hospice, 1015 Fayetteville Rd, Rockingham NC 28379. To our dear “Pop” we love you a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck.
