Mr. Rickey Edward Harris, 66, of Havenstraat St., Kernersville, NC and formerly of Lexington, NC passed away on Friday, February 11, 2022 at his residence.
A funeral service will be held 3:00 PM on Sunday, Feb. 13, 2022 at Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel conducted by Rev. Leon Thompson, Rev. Scott Simmons, and Rev. Roger Porter. Interment will follow at Walter’s Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Briggs Funeral Home and other times at the residence on Havenstraat St., in Kernersville.
Rickey was born on January 21, 1956 in Forsyth County, NC to Edsel Harris and Arlene Grubb Harris. He attended Denton High School and Kernersville Wesleyan Church. Rickey owned and operated Cid Grocery in the early 1980’s before working with Rex Furniture Company and Briggs Funeral Home, and he later went on to retire from Davidson County Schools.
In addition to his parents Rickey was preceded in death by twin sons, Mark and Michael Harris.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Georgia Varner Harris of the home; daughter, Melissa Triplette and husband Chris of Kernersville; son, Matthew Harris of Archdale; 2 grandsons, Oliver and Jackson Triplette; sisters, Doralene Black and husband Mike of CA and Amy Harris of High Point; Rickey also leaves behind many cousins and dear friends.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Mountain Valley Hospice and all their staff for the wonderful care given to Rickey.
