Mr. James Rex Luther, 80, of NC Highway 109 South Denton, NC died Thursday, June 16 at Pine Ridge Health & Rehabilitation Center in Thomasville. A funeral service will be held at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church on Monday, June 20, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Chris Smith and Rev. Derald Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. Mr. Luther was born on July 4, 1935 in Davidson County to Daniel Martin and Nellie Rea Lanier Luther. He was preceded in death by his wife Martha Sue Hunt Luther. He was a radio broadcast engineer with WHPE Radio in High Point and later was a TV repairman at Roger’s Radio & TV in Denton. He is survived by a son, James Byron Luther of the home; 3 daughters, Jené Luther of Denton, Jilda Bennett and husband David of Asheboro and Delana Freeman and husband Randy of Farmer; 8 Grandchildren, Ben Stevenson, Andy Biles, Jennifer Corron, Brandon Wilson, Cloie Thomas, Elizabeth Vigil, Casey Dyles and Trevor Wilson; 13 Great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; 3 close friends, Jesse Hill, Max Parrish and Charles Surratt; and his cat Spunky. The family with receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Saturday, June 18, 2016 at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton and other times at the residence.
