Rev. Jack D Luther, age 85 of High Pines Road, Denton, NC died Thursday, August 12 at his residence.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, August 16 at Macedonia United Methodist Church in Eldorado Community conducted by Rev. Fred Ingle. Burial will follow at Oak Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Bobby Lorton.
The family will see friends from 3:00 until 5:00 PM Sunday, August 15 at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton. Guest are requested to wear mask and social distance. At other times the family will be at the residence.
Rev. Luther was born December 13, 1935 in Montgomery County to Dan Luther and Carrie Cranford Luther. He was a retired minister with the Western North Carolina Conference of The United Methodist Church with 37 years of service. He served Churches in Montgomery County, Mocksville, Pelham, Salisbury, Mooresville and High Point. After retirement he served churches in the North Carolina Conference of The United Methodist Church for 5 years. He was preceded in death by his parents and by brothers, Robert Luther, Loyce Luther and Wallace Luther and by sisters, Alta Luther, Blanche Daniel, Betty DeBerry and Ruth Holt.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Lanier Luther of the home; son, J. D. Luther and wife Cheryl of Denton; daughter, Tammy Burge and husband Wayne of Winston-Salem; grandchildren, Steven Luther, Sarah McDowell and Ryan Burge; great grandchildren, Bella, Clayton, Lula and Hudson.
