Mr. Reginald Otis Gooch, age 80 of New Hope Road passed away Sunday, January 8 at Randolph Hospital in Asheboro. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, January 11 at Ophir United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Ron Scott and Rev. Glen Hancock. Burial will follow in the Denton Town Cemetery. Mr. Gooch was born February 5, 1931 in Davidson County to Dock Otis Gooch and Hazel Revel Gooch. He was a retired truck driver with Pilot FTG Carrier. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was an avid fisherman and loved surf fishing with his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Brenda Gooch Manees and brothers Brownie Gooch and Bill Gooch. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Lottie Hamilton Gooch, son Timothy Gooch and wife Becky of Denton, grandchildren, Jonathon Gooch and wife Amy, Grant Gooch and wife Sabrina and Kerri Gooch Blue and husband Adrian; six great grandchildren; his three sisters, Janie Gooch Morgan, Linda Gooch Karriker and Kaye Gooch Norris all of Troy; and his three brothers, Richard Gooch, Steve Gooch and Phillip Gooch all of Troy and many nieces and nephews. The family will see friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton and other times at the residence on New Hope Road.
