Reece Stutts

Mr. James Reece Stutts, 91, of Privette Rd. Candor, NC passed away on Friday, January 29, 2021 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.  Graveside Service will be Saturday, February 6, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Candor Cemetery with Rev. Steve Jarman officiating.

Mr. Stutts will lie in state on Friday, February 5, 2021 from 2 until 5 PM at Briggs-Candor Funeral Home.

Reece was born August 10, 1929, in Steeds, NC to James Kermit Stutts and Sally Elizabeth Davis Stutts. He was a Veteran of the United States Army where he served as a corporal. Later he joined the VFW Post in West End, NC.  He was a lifelong member of Candor Baptist Church and had been a Deacon. Mr. Stutts was a retired machinist with Allendale Industries he had previously worked in a shipyard for Newport News Shipyard and Dry dock in Newport News, VA and he had taught Gunsmithing at Montgomery Community College. In addition to his parents, Reece was preceded in death by brothers, Bennie and Vernon Stutts.

He is survived by the love of his life and his wife of 66 years, Eleanor Marie Lamonds Stutts of the home; sons, Kevin Stutts (Janice) of Troy and Alan Stutts of Candor; brother, Billy Stutts (Janice); sisters, Teenie Hussey (J.C.), Margie Williams (Lewis), and Jewlene Cagle; 2 granddaughters, Kelly Kennedy (David) of Candor and Brooke Sanders of Asheboro; 1 great-granddaughter, Brynna Kennedy.
