Rebecca Frank Hamby

Rebecca Frank Hamby, 79, of Gray Rd., Lexington, NC passed away on Friday, September 30, 2022, at her residence.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, Oct. 5, at Faith Baptist Church where she was a member with Rev. Trevor Foster and Rev. Freddie Moretz officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM prior to the service at Faith Baptist Church.

Rebecca was born April 20, 1943, at home to George Robert Frank and Ida Carrick Frank. She was a graduate of Denton High School and attended Ashmore Business College. She had been employed with Lexington Memorial Hospital for over 20 years until her retirement. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her first husband, James Richard Smith, her second husband Boyd Lee Hamby; a son, Rocky Hamby; and brothers, Malden, Luther, Wayne, and Bryce Tysinger; and a sister, Hester Varner.

She is survived by sons, Jimmy Smith of Elizabeth City and Mitchell Hamby of Lexington; sisters, Pat Huffman (Son) of Claremont, Judy Cox (Carl) of Kernersville, and Glenda Eason of Lexington; 5 grandchildren, Jason, Eric, and Trevor Hamby and Jessica and Jani Smith; 9 great-grandchildren; and a very dear and special friend, Rachel Duty.

Rebecca was a true servant of God and strong in her faith. Always willing to help others in need with no expectation of anything in return as many in the community can attest to. She will be missed greatly.
